Set in view of the Clee Hills right on the North Worcestershire and Shropshire borders our nearest town is Cleobury Mortimer. It’s an agricultural area with light industry and in the past coal mining, with the now closed Wooferton to Bewdley railway line running to the north of the village . This took the coal away and brought in holiday makers from the Black Country to do seasonal work in the orchards and nearby hop fields by the River Teme.

Because of this we still retain strong links with Birmingham and the Black Country, many Bayton inhabitants working in those conurbations and the residents from those areas returning to caravan parks and retirement from city life.

The village has a thriving school, village hall and a church. The nearest shops are at Clows Top and Cleobury Mortimer. There’s a garage with fuel and servicing at Mawley Oak
